BeatAgeeight You can’t stop time, but many will tell you what really matters is how we feel. What’s important is to keep your mind and body feeling young. One tried and true way to do this is to never slow down. Heather Whitson, MD, associate professor of medicine (geriatrics) at Duke University School of Medicine, says:

“‘Exercise and physical activity is where the strongest evidence lies, not just for reducing mortality, but also for across-the-board health benefits’ Whitson says. She ticks off exercise’s advantages: fewer heart risks, improved sleep and memory, less depression and pain, better bone strength, and fewer falls.”

So wherever you are, whatever you are doing it, don’t stop.  Dance, walk, chase your grandkids, whatever keeps you moving keep doing it.  You can read about

Death and taxes are not the only inevitabilities in life.  No matter how much we wish we wouldn’t, we are all getting older.  It’s a scientifically proven fact, you are now older than you were when you started reading this article.  However, age is just a number and you are only as old (or young if you will) as you feel.  So how do you stay young?  Well Marisa Fox at Fitness Magazine wrote a great article listing 10 ways to stay young, and they are all-natural! For example did you know you should consume more fat?  Wait before you go running out to grab some of your favorite fatty foods, make sure it’s the right kind of fat.  As Fox puts it:

Consume More Fat: The healthy kind, that is. Omega-3 fatty acids (found in salmon, walnuts, and seeds) help stabilize your mood, maintain bone strength

beatage6 We all have bad habits.  Some people bite their nails, others procrastinate (I confess I’m writing this 2 hrs before it’s due).  Some habits while not necessarily considered “bad” are aging us fast than we may like.  Like not getting enough sleep.  Ever hear the term “beauty sleep?”  Google defines it as “sleep considered to be sufficient to keep one looking young and beautiful.”  Turns out it’s not just lip service.  In a blog post on venustreatments.com the author states:

“There’s much credit owed to the famous term “beauty sleep”. Lack of it not only makes you look tired, but causes the release of cortisol hormone in the body. This triggers an inflammatory process causing a breakdown of our much wanted collagen, and thus, wrinkling.”

There you go, now you ha

beatagethree Dennis Krantz, a psychologist, physical fitness buff, business consultant and writer, penned an excellent article on the HuffPost Healthy Living site back in 2013 titled “8 Ways to Stay Young as You Age.”  His first way is to Develop a Positive Mental Attitude saying:

“How you feel about getting older can actually affect how long you live. This gets tested more as you age because of an emphasis on youthfulness in our culture. You must have goals and look forward to the future, irrespective of your actual age. Will you look forward to the future when you are 75 or 85 as much as you did when you were 25? If the answer is “yes,” your positive attitude will help keep you going.”

This is great advice. Aging is an inevitable part of life and having a positive outlook is key to

“Exercise is KEY when it comes to circulating the blood and promoting increased flow throughout the body. This is tremendously beneficial for the skin because in allowing the blood vessels to dilate, more blood flow (and thus oxygen and nutrients) is sent to it. This is why you get that rosy appearance afterward! In this process the skin becomes revitalized, causing improved cell turnover and collagen production.” Want more Skin Care Tips to help Beat The Age Number? http://bit.ly/1SqyXv9
